As a follow-up to my May 21st "Notice 12" email regarding the "shipping bottleneck" caused by motor vehicles caught
in a quarantine traffic jam in Australian ports, see the following.
a. MOL May End of Month will depart for NZ directly without transiting via Australia on June 8th.
b. MOL has confirmed they will position both a Mid-Month and End of Month vessel for June. They have
yet to ensure the size of June's vessels therefore unable to fix space allocation.
c. "First in, First Out (FIFO)" rules apply with "Payment on Loading" customers getting 1st priority in
shipping and "Payment on Arrival" customers getting 2nd priority shipping.
a. Jet Logistics Japan (JLJ) is a professional Freight forwarder and cargo consolidator with expertise in
vanning five units within 40ft high-cube containers for the past 20 years has begun vanning containers
in Kobe with Kisarazu to start sometime this week.
b. Jet Logistics NZ (JLNZ) will manage the devanning, customs clearance, and MPI inspections within the
ports of Auckland and Lyttleton transitional facilities and trucking to anywhere within the metro area.
c. The plan below will ensure that five units can be loaded and devanned safely.
d. De-vanning within the Ports of Auckland and Lyttleton's MPIs-approved transitional facilities will
minimize the number of container movements, reducing the risk of damage and allowing us to deliver
your cars quickly and safely.
e. By the end of May, jet logistics will endeavor to van five containers per day in Kobe and Kisarazu and,
over time, anticipate that they will be able to containerize and ship up to 1200 vehicles per month in
containers only.
a. Units purchased from the Tokai/Nagoya region at an inland trucking rate of JPY10,000/unit will be
invoiced to cover delivery to Kobe for container vanning.
b. Container Surcharge (CNS) of will be invoiced to all consignees using container vanning services.
c. A temporary MPI Surcharge (MPS) of will be invoiced until our MPI Border Inspection organizations
are approved.
d. MOLs twice monthly RORO service any surcharges.
e. Charter vessels a surcharge.
We are refining our containerizing services to ship to you without any extra surcharge, making the rates equal to your
RORO rates. To achieve this requires a massive amount of coordinated effort between our Pre-Shipping MPI and
NZTA structural Inspection service providers, vanning and devanning operators, and stevedores, customs
brokerages, transporters, and MPI inspectors that must be present during the devanning process at the ports of
Auckland and Lyttleton.
We hope to achieve this by the end of June and ask for your patience with the extra surcharges until we can get all
our service providers on board with this objective.
A further new development and point of concern is the number of Chinese manufacturers increasing production;
therefore, carriers have increased pressure to allocate space on their PCC and RORO vessels to carry used vehicles.
, formerly , commonly known
by its abbreviated name , or simply , is one of the world's largest shipping companies.
Over the coming week, my team and I will continue coordinating closely with MOL and our Border Inspection
Organization (BIO) vessel size positioning and space allocations, Jet Logistics daily vanning output, and the
likelihood of securing a vessel charter and deciding when to restore full iDirect and Buy Trip Services.
It is important to note that once MOL has been able to recover from the bottleneck of vessels anchored offshore at
Australian west coast ports giving us certainty with space, we will transition from containers to roll on roll off (RORO)
shipping allowing us to suspend using containers and only resort to resuming container delivery services in the event
of a similar event ever reoccurring. Although we are hopeful, continued meetings with MOL are not looking positive at
this stage, with the bottleneck showing no improvement in the next two months.
Jet Logistics and I remain active in the charter market, looking for vessels allowing us to ship between 800 and 1500
units.
Partial iDirect Buying and Buy Trip Services will remain unchanged this coming week, allowing you to purchase up to
50% of your last 6-month average monthly volumes. All efforts to restore full iDirect and buy trip services as quickly
as possible are our priority.
Please call me directly if you would like to discuss this in more detail. We are here for the next two weeks and look
forward to meeting you all.
Your continued understanding, cooperation, and support to my team and I is greatly appreciated.
Kindest Regards Jojo Hemi President & CEO
